Extra Silliness - Blog Voices

I'm joining the sewcialist crowd and posting my blog voice.  The fun of this meme is to show now language pronunciations varies around the world.  I don't mention it until half way through my video but I currently reside in the Philly burbs....and yes I love "Rocky."

To do the meme you had to pronounce the word below and then answer the list of questions.

List of Words:Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught

List of Questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you change the TV channel with?
And for more fun/learning on this topic here's the link to the linguist maps I mention in my video.

  2. Oh, how fun to hear your voice! (I now hear the theme to Rocky and am not quite sure if I'll be able to get that out of my head for the next several days, so thanks, lol). I wish I had a webcam to participate. Mine is on my lap-top, which sadly, broke down several months ago.

  5. Okay, now say "Adrienne! Adrienne!"

Hoagies and water ices. And cheesesteaks. That's what I miss about living in Philly. And daily grits in the cafeteria. Scrapple, I do not miss.

Thanks for the link to the map. Tiny lobsters are tearing America apart! I like seeing the different pronunciation possibilities, because I wasn't sure what differences I was supposed to be hearing in some words, but now I know what to listen for.

  11. Love this! Super fun. Haven't been to Philly before. I always ask for hoagie rolls for my sub sandwiches because they are big and puffy and not boring bread. I need a button "I am pro hoagie and I vote!"

  12. Yum, yum puffy rolls do sound much better. You'd like Wawa hoagie fest about here then. :)

  15. Lololol! The local expressions is the best part! I've been trying to think of some before I do my video, but so far I've only come up with one.

You are hilarious - just like I expected from your tweets! =)

(I half expected you to have Frog sitting on your head.)

  18. I love it when my FIL teaches me "dutchy" stuff, but my husband hates it when I use them. :) I did want to have frog sitting on the table beside me but I couldn't get him in the shot along with my head. :(

  20. Thank you! I've actually had several negative comments on my voice in the past. (In high school, not from awesome sewcialists) It's really nice to hear that you love it. :)
