After the flurry of sewing summer dresses my sewjo has decided to take a vacation. I can't really blame it since I held it's nose to the grindstone for 3 months. Hopefully it's enjoying some traveling and will return soon bearing souvenirs. Bring FABRIC!
So in the mean time I'm puttering away on the Mae Blouse from Blueginger Doll. Do you like the vintage cotton I scored on Etsy? It's berry berry nice. #badpuns. Anyway the pattern is super easy and should be done by now, but lack of sewjo makes you easily distracted. Squirrel!
The main source of distraction is the new sweater I cast on, the Thermal Pullover from knit wear Fall 2012. This pattern has been in the mental "to knit" column for over a year and looks like the perfect layering sweater. I'm knitting it out of some long stashed Cascade 220, cause I've not no more room to stash yarn. Yep I'm a dual stasher....maybe a triple stasher if you count patterns. "The power to stash is strong in this one."
So if you need me I'll be on the couch watching streaming TV with needles in hand or cursing at my sewing machine. Smell Ya Later.
Hehe, you make me laugh as always. I can't wait to get back to knitting this fall!!! I have such trouble matching patterns to yarn it takes me forever to get things figured out and started.
ReplyDeletePs. I'm passing on the Liebster award to you. Details here: http://tumbleweedsinthewind.blogspot.com/2013/09/liebster-award.html
Great projects Heather! Love that sweater. I'm not a great knitter. sad face. I have been working on the same sweater for a loooooong time. Hey triple stasher member right here too! High five!
ReplyDeleteWell, it could be worse, you could be a full-on fabric/pattern hoarder like I am! ;-) And I think my sewjo is sipping mojitos with yours, because I haven't seen it in a while!
ReplyDeleteI needed a good laugh today and this was it! "The power to stash is strong in this one" - priceless! I've loved the sneak peaks on Twitter of your Mae Blouse and can feel your buttonhole pain. My machine randomly sews half-size button holes. Luckily (or unluckily) I don't know how to knit so I'm only a double-stasher.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I can't wait to see your version of the Mae blouse, that fabric looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteHave I ever told you you're a machine? Because you're a machine lady!!
I do all those, plus I spin. Fiber stash is hidden under the bed ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Em! We're having a fall like weather day today and it makes me happy. MOAR knitting!!
ReplyDeleteTriple stasher high five back. Maybe we need a secret signal or maybe just profession help. LOL. Do you need a new knitting project? There are a couple I have lurking around for years that probably should be frogged at this point.
ReplyDeleteOur sewjos are walking hand in hand at the beach. We might be in trouble if they take a real liking to each other.
ReplyDeleteSo is there a good marker for when a stash turns into hoarding. I'm pretty sure the fabric stash is on the cusp.
:) I just put Yoda ears on my toy frog and have him instruct me in the ways of stash. Sadly his powers don't extend to fixing the damn buttonholer. Maybe I need to threaten it with a wrench. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer. I finished my Mae yesterday, so if the photo gods are kind you'll see it next week. squee!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh a quadrupedal stasher putting us all to shame. :) I'd love to spin but thought am afraid to start yet another hobby.
ReplyDeleteYou know you want to! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think it's somewhere around the part where you have nearly as many scraps as you do garment-sized pieces of fabric...? Or when you have too many pieces that are "too good to cut" and nothing that you're quite willing to sacrifice because "I need to lose about 20 lbs before I sew that up into something".....or maybe I'm the only one who does that?
ReplyDeleteYou should get into stashing jewellery-making supplies. They take less room.
ReplyDelete:) I think I'm about 3/4 of the way there. I've got the "too good to cut" and my scraps are starting to get out of control.
